The highest price paid for a Pokémon card in a private transaction has been recognized by Guinness World Records. The purchase price was 717.8 million Japanese yen ($5,275,000).
The highest-priced card was the “Pokémon Illustrator,” which has the highest PSA grade of 10. The card was purchased by Logan Paul, a YouTuber and martial artist with 23.5 million subscribers.
Guinness officials were on hand to congratulate Logan, who made his debut at Lesslemania (a professional wrestling event run by the WWE, a U.S. professional wrestling organization), on his Guinness World Record certification.
Upon receiving the certification, Mr. Logan commented, “It’s awesome,” and “I can’t believe this is real. He participated in Lesslemania with the card hanging from around his neck.
Logan has since announced that he will list his co-ownership of the card on Liquid MarketPlace, a platform of which he is one of the co-founders.
