The Association of Animation Producers of Japan (AAPJ) announced on April 25 that it will open to the public on the Internet on the same day its website, “Animation Compendium,” which provides basic information on about 15,000 animated films produced in Japan to date.
According to the Association, the website covers commercial works such as movies and TV animations released from the 1910s to the end of July this year. It will be the world’s largest database on Japanese animation.
The “Anime Compendium” contains currently available information such as the year of release, creator, voice actors, staff, etc., and can be searched by anyone free of charge. Until now, there has been no comprehensive record of Japanese animation, and the existence of older works has often been lost.
