Kazuki Takahashi of “Yu-Gi-Oh!” fame passed away, and American voice actors tweeted their condolences.

The sudden death of Kazuki Takahashi, creator of the popular manga “Yu-Gi-Oh!

His death was young, at the age of 60. He was found floating off the coast of Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture, wearing snorkeling equipment. He was apparently attacked by a shark.

 The “Yu-Gi-Oh!” anime was broadcast in the U.S., and the trading card game that appeared in the story became so popular that it was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records for the number of cards sold.

 In response to the news of Takahashi’s death, Eric Stewart, the voice actor who dubbed the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime in English, took to Twitter to express his gratitude, saying, “‘Sensai’ shaped my career as a voice actor.

 American voice actors for other works, such as “Dragon Ball” and “Shinkage no Kyojin,” also popular in the U.S., also posted tweets mourning his death.

 The New York Times also reported that “Yu-Gi-Oh’s popularity in the U.S. rivaled that of Pokemon.
