The movie “ONE PIECE FILM RED”, which is currently in theaters, has attracted 6.65 million viewers and grossed over 9.2 billion yen in its 16-day run.
This is the latest film in the popular anime series based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga of the same title, which has sold over 500 million copies worldwide. The film depicts how the Straw Hat gang, led by Luffy, faces the turmoil surrounding the world’s most beloved singer, Uta (voice cast: Kaori Nazuka, singing cast: Ado).
The film opened to 1.57 million viewers and grossed over 2.25 billion yen in its first two days, making it the No. 1 film in terms of attendance and box-office revenue for the opening weekend and two-day period in 2022. It also surpassed the series’ highest-grossing film in its first 10 days of release, drawing 6.65 million people and grossing 9.2 billion yen in 16 days, and is showing a surge of excitement.
On the 19th, “FILM RED” won five awards in the Oricon Music Ranking, the first time this year and the third time in history, and both the film and music are taking Japan by storm.
