With a strong start, the film surpassed $12.8 million (approximately 1.9 billion yen) in revenue over the three days. U.S. media reports that this marks the first time a film by Director Miyazaki has taken the top spot in the United States.

According to the movie information site Box Office Mojo, the film, released on the 8th in North America, has accumulated a total global box office of about $97 million. Of this, $56 million was generated in Japan.

The same film received the Animated Film Award at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards announced on the 10th. In November, it also won the Animated Film Award at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards.

In addition, “Godzilla -1.0 (Minus One),” released in North America on the 1st, also secured the third spot in box office revenue from the 8th to the 10th, showing the strong performance of Japanese films in the region.
