The latest box office results for “THE FIRST SLAM DUNK” (in theaters now), a new anime adaptation of the classic basketball manga “SLAM DUNK”, show that it has grossed 10 billion yen in domestic box office and 6.87 million viewers in its first 67 days of release (February 7).

 “THE FIRST SLAM DUNK” was released on December 3.

Directed and written by original author Takehiko Inoue, the film was released on its opening day without revealing its story, but it became a major topic of conversation as fans’ enthusiastic comments after viewing the film were all over social networking sites.

 The details of the 67-day box office record are as follows: “Audience: 6,873,384 / Box office revenue: 10,021,521,390 yen / Number of theaters: 382 screens nationwide.

 In South Korea, the film was released on January 4, 2012, and debuted at No. 1 on January 27, and has been No. 1 for 12 consecutive days. The total number of viewers has exceeded 2.43 million.
