The movie “THE FIRST SLAM DUNK” has become a huge hit in Korea.
According to NEW, “THE FIRST SLAM DUNK” drew a cumulative audience of over 2.73 million on the afternoon of the 11th, surpassing “Howl’s Moving Castle” to become the second highest-grossing Japanese animated film ever released in Korea.
The number one movie of all time is “Kimi no na wa” which attracted 3.79 million viewers. which attracted 3.79 million viewers.
“THE FIRST SLAM DUNK” is based on the hit manga “SLAM DUNK” by Takehiko Inoue, which was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” from 1990 to 1996.
The key to this movie’s success is its original story, which has the absolute support of audiences in their 30s and 40s, as evidenced by its high score of 9.27 even after only one month of screening.
As the number of repeat viewers increased, a special screening was held with the participation of singer Park Sang-min, who sang the opening theme of the TV cartoon in the past.
Encouraged by the runaway success, an IMAX screening in April is on the horizon, and CGV is currently in talks with IMAX to screen “THE FIRST SLAM DUNK” in CGV’s IMAX theaters nationwide, according to the company.
