A Japanese anime event began in Saudi Arabia, Middle East, on 27 October.
Women’s skin exposure, which was not permitted due to religious reasons, is now permitted.
This anime event, the largest of its kind in the Middle East, opened in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, and exhibits of anime representing Japan, such as One Piece and Dragon Ball, were displayed at the venue.
A cosplay zone was also set up for general visitors to actually dress up and enjoy themselves.
When the event was held in 2019, female characters were not allowed to expose their skin due to Islamic teachings.
This year, however, the government is focusing on the entertainment industry and loosening restrictions, and Japanese animation is certainly taking root in the Middle East.
The event will run until 29 October.
