Voice actors Masako Nozawa and Toshio Furukawa took the stage at a stage greeting held in Tokyo on March 25 to commemorate the blockbuster success of the movie “Dragon Ball Super Super Hero” in theaters and reflected on the unprecedented recording sessions.
This is the film version of the “Dragon Ball Super” series based on Akira Toriyama’s popular comic book and is an animation depicting the exploits of superheroes. Goku, Son Gohan, Piccolo, and others battle against artificial humans created by the Red Ribbon Army, an evil organization that Goku supposedly destroyed in the past.
In the first 12 days of its release, the film drew an audience of 1 million and grossed over 1.2 billion yen. To commemorate the blockbuster hit, Nozawa, who serves as the voice cast of Goku, Gohan, and Goten, appeared with Goku and four-star ball artwork on her nails. Furukawa, who plays the role of Piccolo, laughed and said, “At my age, I guess I don’t have a sense of shame anymore.” She then showed off her Piccolo costume, saying, “I have costumes of various characters at home, so I pulled them out. I was surprised by the response, which was more than I expected. What surprised me the most was that I have a Twitter account, and when the release of the movie was announced, my number of followers exploded,” he said happily.
The two also looked back on the recording session. Nozawa said, “It was probably the first time we were alone in a booth,” and Furukawa added, “It was probably the first time we were in a private room together for such a long time. It was a blissful time. I was reminded of the underlying power of the “Dragon Ball” series and Nozawa-san’s godlike acting,” he said, adding, “His acting is so advanced that I want to steal it all.
