The iconic orange cat, “Garfield,” beloved worldwide, is coming to Japan in a brand-new 3D animated movie! Special footage from the movie ‘Garfield the Cat’ has been released.
Garfield, who celebrated his 45th anniversary in 2023, is the most widely published comic strip in the world. He has previously been adapted into live-action movies and animated series, with numerous celebrities being fans of Garfield merchandise. Now, this popular character is returning in a new film set to arrive in Japan.
Today, August 8th, is “World Cat Day,” established in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare as a day to deepen the friendship between humans and cats and pledge to provide cats with safe lives.
On this day, a special video has been released featuring Hollywood star Chris Pratt, who voices Garfield in the film, engaging in “cat creation” as part of his role preparation.
In the video, Chris is seen with a serious expression, pondering questions like “What is a cat?” “What defines a cat?” and “Why cats?” As the camera pulls back, Chris is revealed sitting on a sofa, surrounded by numerous cats!
He then explains that playing the globally recognized and beloved Garfield, with a 92% awareness rate, requires physical agility, curiosity, and playfulness. The video shows him grooming himself on a bed and drinking water without using his hands, demonstrating his thorough “cat creation” efforts. He earnestly comments that he has truly connected with cats.
The movie ‘Garfield the Cat’ will be released in theaters nationwide on Friday, August 16, 2024.
