On November 17, Hokuto Matsumura of the popular group “SixTONES” attended a stage greeting in Osaka City to commemorate the release of Makoto Shinkai’s new theatrical anime “Suzume no tojimari,” his first in three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the film, Mr. Matsumura played the role of Sota, whose appearance is changed into a chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, “Sometimes I am told that the voices I make in my casual life are too much like Shinkai’s works,” referring to the reaction of the members and their managers after he appeared in the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matsumura also commented, “Playing Sota made me calm down and it became a little easier for me to be kind to others. Playing Sota, who has been protecting Suzume for so long, has made me more familiar with protecting others,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u3000”Suzume no tojimari” is the first film to feature a Japanese actor who has played the role of a Japanese woman in “Kimi no na wa.” (2016) and “Weather Child” (2019). Set in abandoned ruins around Japan, the film depicts the liberation and growth of Suzume, a young girl on a journey to close the “doors” that lead to disaster. Actress Nanoha Hara played Suzume. Kusata, played by Matsumura, is a “closers” whose mission is to close doors that bring about “disasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u3000Mr. Hara and Director Shinkai also attended the event. Mr. Matsumura and others gave a total of five stage greetings at four venues in Osaka and Kobe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
